The Story

How We Met

We met in what we call the new “traditional” way – a dating app (Hinge). Both of us had recently moved to Savannah, Georgia for our jobs and found ourselves eager to hit the dating scene. We “matched” in December of 2018 and that is when our chats started.
Both of us were busy traveling for work and the holidays and found it difficult to set a time for our first date. In the world of dating apps, this scenario would typically end in a fizzled out conversation after a week or two.
“I knew Kevin had something captivating about him if he kept my attention via chats for over a month before our first date. That is rare!” - Taylor

January 18th, 2019 is when our love story began. We had our first date on the Riverfront in Savannah. We met at Churchill’s, which ended up being completely packed for a private event, so we decided to grab a drink “to-go” in true Savannah style and sit on a bench on the River and get to know each other. After that, we took a stroll along the Riverfront enjoying the local music and nightlife. Before we knew it, four hours had passed by us. Looking back on the evening, it felt like a true Hallmark movie first date.
While neither one of us wanted to stay in Savannah long term, it allowed us to grow together exploring the quaint historical city. We enjoyed playing “tourists” and had many adventures during our time in Savannah.

Our favorite weekend activities included: grabbing a Saturday morning coffee and walking through the local farmer’s market at Forsyth Park, spending beach days on Tybee, and exploring the delicious food scene of Savannah.  Each weekend truly felt like a vacation because we were able to spend it with the person we were falling in love with.
Our relationship was already building its strong foundation, but a test that we were not expecting really put into perspective how much we truly cared for one another. From that point forward early on, I think we both knew that we had found “the one”.

Next up was our parents meeting! They met one of the last weekends in Savannah before we worked towards moving to Charlotte, North Carolina. Both of us are extremely close to our families and truly valued them getting to know each other. The weekend was better than we could’ve asked for! It was all we needed to know that this was meant to be.

Our next chapter starts in Charlotte, NC…

The Proposal

We were in a long distance relationship at the time and both at major transition stages (starting new jobs, new territories, a full condo remodel). We had been traveling back and forth on the weekends taking turns on visiting each other. The weekend of March 6th, 2021 came up and we had plans to be in Charlotte, NC.
Taylor had planned to move into her condo the previous weekend but construction took longer than anticipated and that is where the curve ball came in. She called to let me know that moving weekend was now the weekend of March 6th, 2021. Little did she know, we had other plans that weekend!
I told her I wanted to take her on a picnic in Freedom Park. That wasn’t *exactly* true. I brought her to a small island in the park where we had some privacy. I handed Taylor the picnic basket. When she noticed it was full of nothing but flowers, I dropped to one knee and popped the question! Her first response was a choked up “Kevin….what are you doing?” followed quickly by an “Omg! Yes, of course!”
Both families were nearby watching, so that was a great surprise for Taylor. There were a few tears all around (but mostly from Autumn and Nicki). A proper Davis-Mowery celebration followed! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.
